Electric Kettles

Electric KettleSave money on electricity usage by only filling the electric kettle with the amount of water that you need, instead of filling it to the top. Heating water is one of the most energy-guzzling things around, so don’t boil up more than you need. If you drink a lot of hot drinks each day, saving energy by not boiling a full kettle can really save a lot of your money, not to mention decreasing your carbon footprint. It will also save you time – you will get your hot drink a lot faster!

I sometimes boil the kettle in the morning and fill my cup and then a vacuum flask with the water. Then hot water is readily available for quite a few hours.

Great idea! Come to think of it, in summer, I should boil up a kettle-full of water and then store it in my black iron tea-pot in my solar oven to stay warm during the day.
