The following is a list of my favourite books, web sites, movies and magazines.
Books / Kindle
Kindle Readers and Apps – Kindle e-readers let you download books, newspapers, and more in digital format from Amazon.com, and read them directly on a Kindle device. In addition, you can install the Kindle App on other devices (such as Android-based devices, iPhones and PCs) and read your Kindle books on them. This is a great way to save money, because you don’t have to pay any shipping charges for Kindle books. In addition, Kindle books save trees and reduce air-pollution because no shipping is required.
Hot, Flat and Crowded by Thomas Friedman
Go Green, Live Rich by David Bach
All New Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew
Simple Home Solutions by Martha Stewart
Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoe Francois
Blessed Unrest by Paul Hawken
Magazines
G Magazine – an Australian magazine with lots of great articles, tips on eco-living, and more.
Mother Earth News – a classic American magazine that has been going strong for over 40 years. Contains lots of really useful tips for homesteaders and urban dwellers, and everything in between.

Movies and Video Clips
The Age of Stupid – a must-see fictional movie depicting what our world might look like if we don’t change the way we live, now.
Grown In Detroit – a fascinating documentary which shows how a school for teenage mothers teaches its pupils to make a living by growing fresh fruit and vegetables in vacant lots in the city of Detroit. Not to be missed!

Garbage Dreams – another fascinating documentary showing how the “Zabellin” Christian Copts living on the outskirts of Cairo make a living from recycling the city’s garbage.
The Story of Stuff Project – this project started out with the outstanding animation of “The Story of Stuff”. Now there are other clips on the site as well, all of which are worth watching.
