What’s the problem with bottled water? Firstly, bottled water costs thousands of times the cost of the water that comes out of your tap. Sometimes, there is no significant difference in water quality between bottled and tap water. Secondly, you are mainly paying for the plastic bottle, transport and advertising, and not the water! In addition, people don’t always recycle these plastic bottles after use. In any case, Refusing to buy bottled water is always preferable to Reusing or Recycling the bottles.
If you don’t want to drink unadulterated tap water, consider installing a water filter in your kitchen. I have a reverse osmosis water filter installed under my kitchen sink, and it only needs to be serviced once a year. The maintenance cost is roughly equivalent to the cost of 120 bottles of mineral water per year. If I had to buy mineral water, I would need to buy at least three times that amount. So it works out much cheaper than buying all those bottles of mineral water, and is a much better deal for the planet!
